God is in the business of allowing us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. But are we looking? Being home for the last week plus has given me a gift of time with my Lord and my family that I have been greatly missing. Spending time with those most important leaves me feeling melancholy after, because the life I am currently leading is off balance.
It reminds me of Jesus and the time leading up to the Crucifixion. It wasn't that Jesus wanted to stay or go .." He was about his Father's business". He was at peace but the disciples were not even able to stay awake and pray. Why was that? Surely they loved the Lord, they heard his request to come and I don't think it was a malicious act of rebellion. I think they were out of balance. they were used to the Lord being around, after all it had been three years at this point and they were not seeing or understanding the changes that were about to take place.
I wasn't seeing or understanding the changes that were about to take place ...One day in late 2005 Jesus said come, follow me and this time not only did I hear Him ...I said OK I will . Im glad I'm getting to be home now, but more importantly I'm ready to go Home! Are You?

I don't think Jesus was at peace AT ALL in the Garden of Gethsemane. He sweat drops of blood (!). The apostles were tired (gotta love the Greek "their eyes were heavy" (Matt 26:43)). Like you, I wouldn't assign an attitude to them about that.
Being ready to go home is to be ambivalent - as Paul said "to live is Christ, to die is gain" (Phil 1:21) but there's everything normal about wanting to be home with the Lord. And .. ready or not, when it happens, it happens :-).
Thank you Sage for your comment,
in the physical I think Jesus was operating within the parameters of the physical world. However in the spiritual I think the peace was never in question.
Thank You so much for reading and posting JT
